LUGGAGE Decide What to Pack Try clothes on: We all have our vacation favourites, bikinis, shorts, sundresses etc. Check whether or not they still fit, that they are in good condition and that they are still fashionable enough to be seen out in. Remember the weight and space constraints so choose wisely. Plan Your Evening Wear Decide how many outfits you are likely to need. Indiscriminate packing may prove costly if you are forced to pay for excess baggage at the airport. A handy vacation tip is to wear slim fitting clothing early on in your holiday because we all have a tendency to gain a few pounds during a vacation and you’ll want to feel your best. Footwear Footwear can be bulky!! A great vacation tip is to simply go for comfort. Sandals for the day, flip flops for the beach. and comfortable heels for the night. Especially important if you are heading off to sunnier climes. The heat may take its toll on your poor feet and cause some swelling. Squeezing into shoes just because they are a perfect match for your outfit may seem like a good idea at the beginning of the night. Be warned- there is nothing stylish or sexy in walking around with shoes in hand and bare feet!!! Grooming & Toiletries Ancillery items can take up valuable space. A useful vacation tip is to transfer shampoos and conditioners into smaller bottles and to purchase a mini anti perspirant . These items can then be packed into your footwear. Hairdryers, curling tongs and such can be limited to one per party. Of course you will have to put in place an action plan but invariably hotel rooms abroad have limited power sockets so chances are you wont be able to use appliances at the same time. Take spare batteries for a battery shaver or better still replace existing batteries with new ones before departure. Adapters are a must for electrical equipment. Remember to check you have the correct adapter for your destination. Space permitting an extension lead with multi-adapter may come in useful, low budget accommodation may not have a mirror within normal flex length. How to Pack When packing your suitcase, forget about folding your clothes individually as you would in a dresser. If you do, they will end up wrinkled by the time you reach your destination. Here are a few packing alternatives: Fold two or more items together. This gives some cushioning along the folds and reduces creasing. Rolled clothes are less likely to crease than clothes that are folded . This works particularly well with seperates. Lay item face down, fold back the sleeves and roll from the bottom to the top. VACATION CHECKLISTS Why Make Checklists? A checklist enables you to see at a glance what you have done and what you still need to do. Time spent planning will ultimately save you valuable time in the long run. A checklist is therefore a valuable vacation tip.
