Pork Pie Recipe

OPH Good Housekeeping & Homemaking

Our pork pie recipe tastes wonderful, is easy and quick to make and will go down supremely well at any Christmas party or get together, so why not give it a go, you won't be disappointed.

Ingredients

  • 500 g lean pork
  • 125 ml jellied stock
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 450 g plain flour
  • 200 g lard
  • 225 ml milk and warm water
  • Directions

  • In a bowl mix together the salt and flour and place to one side.

  • In a pan place the milk and water and heat, to this add the lard and when the mixture is just starting to bubble, remove from the hob and pour the ingredients into the flour.

  • Give it a quick stir and start to knead to make the dough

  • Flatten the dough by using a rolling pin cut 1/3 of the dough away and leave to one side.

  • Place the 2/3 of the dough into bread tin and work the dough up its sides.

  • Dice the pork and place it inside the crust. Then place the 1/3 of the dough on top as a lid and baste it with milk.

  • Prick the top of the crust and pop it in a preheated oven of 175 degrees C (350 degrees F) for roughly 90 minutes.

  • When it is cooked make a hole in the side of the pie and using a syringe inject the pork with the jelly.
