Oven Cleaning Tips

Mix a cup of white soap powder with white vinegar smoothin the ratio 5:1 into a smooth paste and spread onto a pre heated oven. Remember to switch off the oven before you begin. Leave for an hour or so and wipe clean. Stubborn dried on foods can be removed by gently scrubbing with a scouring pad

Cleaning your oven can be easier than you think. Many shop bought oven cleaning sprays produce fumes and require use in a well ventilated room. Unfortunately there isn’t always a correlation between the smell and quality. Here at OPH we have tried and tested a variety of home made oven cleaning products that are ecological, inexpensive and are equally if not more effective.

Homemade Oven Cleaning Products

White washing powder and white vinegar mixed to a paste in the ratio 5:1 respectively is an effective oven cleaner even for burnt on food. Pre-heat the oven to 180 degrees then turn off. Apply the mixture (be careful not to burn yourself) and leave for an hour or so, then wipe clean with a wet cloth.

Bicarbonate of Soda and water mixed to a smooth paste and smeared over the oven. Leave overnight and then wipe off with a wet cloth. This will leave your oven not only odour free but sparkling clean as well.

Ammonia poured into a wide rimmed cup or bowl and left in the oven overnight is an easy way to clean a dirty oven. Remove debris with a wet cloth and use a non metallic green scrubber to loosen any stubborn food, then rinse the oven thoroughly with Warm water and washing up liquid.
