Tea tree oil As you may or may not know the use of tea tree oil is one of the best natural nail fungus remedies out there because of its anti-fungal and antiseptic properties.

When using tea trea oil to treat fungal nail infections you have two options open to you. You can either mix the oil with a small amount of olive oil and apply to the affected area or if you are prone to bouts of fungus problems you can apply a couple of drops of tea tree oil daily, rubbing it into all your toes.

Tea tree & lavender oil mixture - For extra protection this nail fungus remedy is excellent because it combines the antiseptic properties of the tea tree oil with the soothing and infection fighting proprties of lavender oil. Here just add equal measures of both oils to a cotton wool bud and apply it to the end of your nail and plate, focusing on the underside of it. Do this at least twice a day for best results.

Apple cider vineger - This is one of the mosty relaxing home nail fungus remeides you can try. Here grab yourself a wshing up basin or similar vessel and add to it 50% warm water and 50% natural apple cider vinegar and just relax whilst soaking your feet for roughly 20 minutes. When you're done see to it that you dry your feet thoroughly making sure no damps patches are present.

Oregano oil - Oregano oil is a pretty popular way of treating fungal nail infections because it's a natural antibacterial, antiseptic, antifungal and antiviral preoperties. For best results add a couple of drops of the oregano oil to 5ml of olive oil and apply to the affected area on a daily basis. If there is no change after two weeks, it might be best to pay your doctor a visit.

Mouth wash - This nail fungus remedy may sound like a bizzare one, but it really does work. However if you think about it for a second, you then realise that mouthwashes are packed full of antiseptic which will keep you toenails strong and healthy.

What steps can I take to avoid fungal nail infections?

Well the the three main steps which you can undertake in caombatting nail fungus problems is not to share shoes and socks with other people, see to it that you don't walk bare foot in damp public areas such as gyms and swimming pools and ensuring you keep your feet clean and dry.

Other steps you can use to avoid fungal nail infections is to wear cotton socks as they allow your feet to breath easier and thus sweat less. Secondly see to it that you keep your toenails short and smooth so any possible fungal infection cannot take hold.
