Why Choose Gradual Weight Loss

Prevent Starvation Mode

The key to ensuring the weight you have lost is not put straight back on is to lose that weight gradually. Gradual weight loss gives your body time to adjust to a lower weight. Rapid weight loss sends the body into starvation mode. Cravings are triggered to encourage eating and any fat will be stored.

Impetus Building

Gradual weight loss takes longer to reach your goal, therefore psychologically the achievement becomes more valuable. If you feel like you have accomplished something there is less chance of you giving it up without a fight.

Check Your Weight

When you reach your target weight then weigh yourslf on a regular basis so that any fluctuations can be addressed readily by diet and exercise. If you find you have gained weight then don't be too disheartened, those few extra pounds will be easier to lose than they were the first time round.

Exercise

Regular exercise will burn of those extra calories and help you to maintain a constant weight. once you get into rhythm of it

Stay In Control

Never punish or deprive yourself to maintaintain weight loss. Depriving your body and soul of the foods you love, can reinforce negative behaviour, that is encourage comfort eating. Aim to include a weekly treat in your maintenance program. The key is to take control and not let one treat lead to a binge.

Motivation

Maintaining weight loss does get easier with the passage of time.Your stomach will shrink, the hunger pangs will decrease in frequency

Breakfast And Maintaining Weight Loss

Breakfast is the main meal of the day and is therefore essential to maintaining weight loss. Breakfast kick starts your metabolism to speed up the calorie burning process. Skipping breakfast will not only make you sluggish and less attentive but will hinder the weight maintenance by slowing down your metabolism.

Controlled Calorific Intake

Increase your calorific intake once you reach your target weight. This increase in claories should be small enough not to increase your weight but to also ensure that ou don't fall below it. In short this is your playing field. An area where you can indulge and abstain and generally have fun with your food.

Water And Maintaining Weight Loss

Hydration is fundamental to maintaining weight loss. The more water you drink the more retained water you release. Dehydration triggers a natural defence mechanism that causes your body to store water in the cells. If your body is dehydrated then it will automatically retain water and perhaps trick you into feeling hungry when in fact you are thirsty.

Salt Intake And Maintaining Weight Loss

Salt inhibits the release of water. Cutting down on your salt intake will stop the retention of water by allowing the cells to function more efficiently.

Buddying And Maintaining Weight Loss

maintaining weight loss can be easier if you have a buddy. This buddy does not necessarily have to be on a maintenance program, although it may help if they are, just someone who will encourage you by positivity especially during the early days or during stressful times when you may be tempted to over eat.

Food Diary And Maintaining Weight Loss

Keep a check on your daily calorific intake by starting a food diary.By recording the amount of food types, such as carbohydrates and fats, you will see at a glance if your diet is healthy and can make any necessary adjustments to your eating plan.
