1.One of the key tips to making sure the weight you have lost is not put straight back on is to lose that weight in a slow and gradual manner. This will allow your body time to get used to being at the new lighter weight, it won’t think it’s being starved. If the body believes you are starving it then the cravings for food will become almost impossible to resist.

Another reason why gradual weight loss is better is because, naturally, when we take a long time to reach our goal, say, to lose 20 pounds, we feel like we have accomplished something, when this happens it gives us the impetus to make sure we don’t end up back at square one.

2.Another good tip in regards to maintaining weight los is when we have lost the desired weight we should weigh ourselves on a regular basis, doing this will allow ourselves to keep an eye on our weight and take action when it starts to creep back up. However, don’t weigh yourself everyday as this could lead to you becoming obsessed, and I don’t need to tell you that, that isn’t healthy.

And another point to bear in mind is that if you do put a little bit of weight on don’t panic, panicking can cause you to become disillusioned, causing you to slip back into your old ways. Don’t worry you’ve managed to lose the weight in the first place, you can lose it again, and because the weight you have put on is “new weight” it will be easier to lose than if it had been on for a long time.

3.Why not take regular exercise this will help you burn of those extra calories and help you maintain a constant weight, once you get into rhythm or regime it’ll become a habit and easier to maintain.

4.The next tip in regards to maintaining your weight loss is to make sure you don’t punish yourself by depriving your body and mind of the foods you love. If you allow yourself low and controlled amounts of those foods, then you will more likely be able to stick to the diet.

5.Always keep in mind, especially through the hard times, that as time goes by, you’ll need less motivation to stick to your diet, as your stomach will get smaller, thus diminishing the hunger pangs.

6.Another good tip is to always make sure you eat your breakfast, this will make sure that your metabolism is kick started in the morning, thus, speeding up the process of burning off calories. A lot of people make this mistake, and then spend time wondering why they don’t seem to be losing weight, this is probably down to the fact that your metabolism is running in slow motion.

7.It’s very important that once you have reached your target weight that you increase your daily calorific rate a little bit. This will ensure you stay at that target weight and not drop below it, or deviate too far above it.

To ensure that your increased calorific level has had the desired affect, weigh yourself, say, about a week later and if you find that your weight has gone down again, increase your calorific level once more. Follow this weekly process until you maintain a constant weight.

8.The next tip in maintaining weight loss is todrink plenty of water, this will ensure your body is properly hydrated. This is an important consideration in the context of things, because, if the body feels it’s not getting enough water it will start to “retain water”. The more water we drink the, the greater amount of retained water we release.

9.Now, leading on nicely from the above tip, if we cut down on our sodium (salt) intakes, then, this again will help the body decrease the retention of water. This is due to the fact that if you don’t your body will believe it is dehydrated and start to store water within its cells.

10.If you can manage to get yourself a “weight loss buddy” this could help ensure you maintain your weight. This person will normally be a friend or a family member, who will diet with you. You can provide each other with support and motivation when you feel things are beginning to slip, plus it’s always nice to share our success isn’t it?

11.Keep a food diary this will help you keep an eye on your daily calorific and carbohdrate intake. I twill also give you the impetus to stick to your healthy eating plan.
