OPH Good Housekeeping - Home Ecosystems
Houseplants play an important role in helping to purify the air within our homes. Special properties peculiar to certain plants remove harmful chemical toxins, associated with the high incidence of respiratory problems such as asthma and bronchitisand even cancers; conditions that plague 21st century living . Toxins are often introduced into our homes inadvertently via cleaning, decorating, car maintenance products or through open windows and doors particularly during the summer, where harmful chemicals such as Benzene (found in petrol) are absorbed into our soft furnishings and slowly admitted into the air throughout the year.
