Healthy Dieting Don’ts
OPH Good Housekeeping & Homemaking – Healthy Dieting Don’tsHealthy dieting is very important when we embark on a weight loss programme. Here we will highlight the dangers of dieting along with the don’ts in the aim to help you make an informed decision about whether or not to commence one. Don't.... Embark on a diet or exercise regime until you have sought medical advice from your doctor, perhaps take a medical before starting your weight loss programme.Make the mistake of assuming that you must go on a diet, in some instances increasing your level of exercise is maybe all you need to do to lose weight. In addition to this, just changing what time you eat may make a difference. For example, don’t eat your last meal of the day right before you go to bed, otherwise it will be lying in your stomach until the morning, thus, your body will not burn off as many calories as it would’ve done if you’d had the meal 4 hours earlier. Embark on crash diets, these usually mean bad news, as they can be very dangerous for the body, due to the rapid weight loss they suggest.Go on diets, which, say, a well known, fabulous looking celebrity has recommended, as these celebrities usually spend a lot of money on personal trainers and cosmetic surgery to enhance their figures.Set unrealistic targets. If you do, you might start to become obsessed with trying to achieve this impossible goal, and I don’t need to tell you that this is not healthy for anybody. In addition, setting unrealistic targets can also de-motivate you, which means you are a lot more likely to discontinue the regime. Just go on a diet because somebody has called you “fat” or “overweight” (unless your doctor has recommended you diet). If you diet for reasons other than because you want to, or medically advised to, then try working on raising your self-esteem as this may help you ignore the negative comments.Get frustrated. You maybe losing weight at a rate you are not satisfied with, don’t panic try checking how many inches you have lost too, as this can be a good indicator to whether or not the diet is working. Getting frustrated may lead you to take drastic action, like, starving yourself or over exercising. Remember, steady and slow weight loss is always best. Miss out on eating breakfast, as we all know, breakfast is the most important meal of the day, not only does it give us the energy to perform our daily tasks, but it’s necessary when dieting, as eating it kicks starts our metabolism, which means the food we eat throughout the day is burnt off faster. Thanks for checking out our OPH Good Housekeeping tips on healthy dieting.
