Easy Garlic Bread Recipe

OPH Good Housekeeping & Homemaking

This easy garlic bread recipe is one of our favourites here at OPH Good Housekeeping and Homemaking, because, as the name suggests it’s really easy to make and tastes absolutely amazing. These are the main reason for including it on our party ideas recipe list. Why not try it out and see how easy it really is to prepare and make.

Ingredients (serves 30 peple)
125g fresh yeast
5g rock salt
2500g strong plain flour
1800ml warm water
50 unpeeled garlic cloves
15g salt
50ml olive oil
5g cayenne pepper
75g chopped fresh oregano

Directions
The first task you need to undertake in order to complete this homemade garlic bread recipe is to grab the yeast and add it to the water and wait till it dissolves.

In the meantime sift the cayenne pepper, flour and salt into a large bowl and make a well in the center of it. By now the yeast should’ve dissolved in the water, pour this into the well and gradually bring in the flour to form the dough.

When you have completed this part of the garlic bread recipe grab your self a board and lightly flour it so that the dough doesn’t stick to it. Place the dough onto the board and knead it for 5-6 minutes.

Next, lightly oil a bowl and place the dough into it, cover with cling film and place in a warm place for 40-50 minutes to allow it to rise.

In the meantime grab yourself a roasting tin and to it add the garlic and olive oil and blend it together so that the oil covers the cloves. Place in the oven and cook at 180 degrees C (350 degrees F) gas mark 4 for approximately 15 minutes.

When this time has elapsed and the garlic has cooled down a little, your next task in this garlic bread recipe will be to peel the cloves and chop them up. Next, get yourself a bowl and add the garlic, rock salt and 60g or 4/5 of the oregano to it.

Remember the dough? Go get it and genteelly knead the newly made garlic mixture through it. When you are satisfied that it is adequately mixed, mould it into a nice round shape, brush lightly with a bit more olive oil and sprinkle the rest of the oregano onto it. Now, place the dough into a greased bowl, cover with film and allow to rise for a further 5 minutes.

N.B.In order to get the best result from baking it might be preferable to split the dough into 5 separate loafs.

Finally, for this garlic bread recipe remove the film and bake in a preheated oven at a temperature of 220 degrees C (450 degrees F) gas mark 7 for roughly 10 minutes. When the 10 minutes have elapsed reduce the temperature to 190 degrees C (375 degrees F) gas mark 5 and cook for a further 30-40 minutes. Remove your finished garlic bread recipe from the oven and allow to cool.

That’s it, now don’t you agree that is an easy garlic bread recipe?
