Dandruff Causes
There is myth doing the rounds that dandruff is caused by poor hygene. I can firmly confirm that this is not the case. Although the exact causes are unknown it is suggested that perhaps people who fail to brush their hair regularly may fall victim of this condition. The reason given for this is the fact that dead skin cells cannot be shed efficiently, resulting in the buid up of dandruff.
Another popular theory is to do with yeast. By all accounts certain yeasts produced by the body can cause dandruff to be prevalent in people who's body's are sensitive to it. With this in mind it is said that during the summer months dandruff may be less of a problem in relation to the winter months because the sun can combat the bodies yeast production.
Other causes of dandruff may be attributed to stress, hormonal changes, puberty, humidity levels and perspiration.
Dandruff Symptoms
The symptoms associated with dandruff are somewhat predictable. They include an itchy scalp which my become tender and red through scratching, as well as the traditional white flakes found on the scalp and collar which are widely associated with the condition.
