Appetizer Recipes

OPH Good Housekeeping & Homemaking

Below my appetizer recipes, they’re a nice and tasty way to kick off a family barbecue. Why not try them out and see what you think?

The recipes included are:

1.Spicy Buffalo wings

6.Cheese and tomato garlic bread

SPICY BUFFALLO WINGS

INGREDIENTS

  • 50 pieces upper portion chicken wings
  • 115 g butter
  • 10 ml Tabasco sauce
  • Pinch of salt and black pepper
  • Pinch Cayenne Pepper
  • Sunflower oil for deep frying
  • DIRECTIONS

  • In a large frying melt the butter over a low heat, mixing in the Tabasco sauce.
  • Deep fry the chicken wings in the sunflower oil at roughly 190 degrees C (375 degrees F) for about 10 minutes
  • When the chicken wings have all be done, reheat the frying pan with the Tabasco sauce in, tossing the wings in it as you go along and marinate with the Cayenne pepper, salt and black pepper
  • CURRIED CHICKEN WINGS

    INGREDIENTS

  • 1 kg of chicken wings
  • 10 ml mustard
  • 15 g curry powder
  • 2 cloves minced garlic
  • 75 g honey
  • 60g butter
  • 5 g teaspoon salt
  • Pinch cayenne pepper
  • Olive oil
  • DIRECTIONS

  • Put the wings in a plastic bag. Into the bag pour all the ingredients, after giving it a good shake - to coat the wings - then place the bag in to the fridge for 3 hours.
  • Remove the wings from the bag and coat them all with the olive oil and place them on a pre-heated grill for 15-17 minutes or until crispy, turning once.
  • STUFFED MUSHROOMS

    INGREDIENTS

  • 25 medium mushrooms
  • 10 g flour
  • 75 ml dry white wine
  • 75 g chopped spring onion
  • 15 g margarine
  • 125 g finely chopped cooked ham
  • DIRECTIONS

  • Remove the stems from the mushrooms, keeping the caps
  • Chop up the stems and cook them in along with the spring onion in 5 g of margarine. Then mix in the flour and add the wine, stirring until the mixture is thickened.
  • Mix in the ham and then get the mixture and proceed to stuff the mushroom caps with it. Before you place the mushrooms on the grill coat them all individually with the rest of the margarine and cook on a medium heat for roughly 20 minutes.
  • APPETIZER RECIPES

    STEAK FAJITAS

    INGREDIENTS

  • 750 g flank steak
  • 125 ml cup lime juice
  • 3 g onion salt
  • 3 g celery salt
  • 10 ml oil
  • 3 g pepper
  • Pinch garlic powder
  • 3 g oregano
  • 3 g cumin
  • Flour tortillas
  • DIRECTIONS

  • With a mallet bash the steak to thin it out. Mix the oil, herbs/seasonings and lime juice in a plastic bag and then add the meat. Give the bag a good shake to coat the meat and put the bag in the fridge for approx. 7 hours
  • In the meantime warm up the tortillas and then brush them with vegetable oil and sear them on a hot grill for roughly 30 seconds.
  • Remove the meat from the bag and place on a grill and cook for roughly 15 minutes, turning once
  • When the meat has been cooked slice it into strips across the grain and wrap it in the tortillas adding any desired topping
  • SPICY NUTS

    INGREDIENTS

  • 250 g roasted peanuts
  • 250 g unshelled pumpkin seeds
  • 250 g whole almonds
  • 10 ml hot chili oil
  • 5 ml extra-virgin olive oil
  • 3 g cayenne pepper
  • 5 g salt
  • 5 g paprika
  • 10 ml Worcestershire sauce
  • DIRECTIONS

  • Spread out the pumpkin seeds and almonds over a foil tray and grill on a low heat for about 12 minutes
  • remove the tray from the heat and add the roasted peanuts
  • In a bowl mix together the rest of the ingredients and then pour over the nuts
  • Return the tray to the grill and grill for 6 minutes, allow to cool. Serve
  • CHEESE AND TOMATO GARLIC BREAD

    INGREDIENTS

    Serves (4)

  • 8 (2 inch diameter) slices crusty bread
  • Extra-virgin olive oil
  • 1 large garlic clove
  • 8 slices Parmesan cheese
  • 2 chopped tomatoes
  • 10 ml extra-virgin olive oil
  • 5 ml balsamic vinegar
  • salt
  • black pepper
  • DIRECTIONS

  • brush both sides of the bread with olive oil
  • Grill one side of the bread until lightly toasted
  • Rub the toasted side intensely with the garlic glove, put a slice of cheese on each toasted side of bread and place under the grill for 2 minutes, remove and place the bread on a plate
  • In a bowl mix together the chopped tomatoes and the seasonings, olive oil and vinegar, then place the mixture on each piece of bread. Serve
